It's only for if you get the ecosystem and know what mods to go for. I personally would discourage from using Minetest game by default from the start (it should be deleted and only on machines if they choose to, and that is the consensus when the dev team get around to it). Check out some stuff, see what you like, but there is a little something for everyone. One mod may require another mod’s code, items, or other resources to be available for it to use. A dependency occurs when a mod requires another mod to be loaded before itself. There is also a texture in textures/ for the node. Glitch and Backrooms test are unique and highly spoken of. There’s a single dependency, the default mod, which is usually found in Minetest Game. Exile is well spoken but advertised as a little brutal. There is Nodecore which is challenging but players speak highly of it. Hades Revisited is quite unique take on things (focus on terraforming), Mesecraft is MTG plus with a fuller experience. Of course, when you're ready to branch out there are many great bits of content out there. You are requesting some very minecrafty type things, and if you're looking for that, MineClone2 is the right option for you and you can get mods for that that will change the vanilla experience. There are games on MT and are a complete experience, so worth starting with. There are mods that introduce Nether etc. And other cool stuffs that will enhance the gameplay. And probably something to make some cool contraptions like how MC have redstone. Maybe mods for some kind of realms similar to how MC have nether and ender realms. Maybe there's something better than this or would make it more amazing. I installed animalworld and I was amazed on how many mobs are there. It is running through Docker on a Raspberry pi 4 4GB if it does matter(it is running on a 1TB HDD and have another 4TB HDD so space won't be an issue). The server is within our LAN only and no one from the internet can connect to it, so I think I don't need much about server management, maybe some anti-griefing so the kids won't mistakenly destroy the other's creation that would end to some kind of fight. I'll be playing with my nieces who are still around the age of 5, but their parents and some of my cousins will join too. I'm looking into something that can be greater than minecraft. I want a feel of minecraft where we can be creative and explore the world, but playing a clone of minecraft will feel like we'll never stop comparing this and that game. So probably it is better idea to stick to the veterans' recommendations and slowly add more later. And I read in the wiki that some mods don't work together, so choosing became a lot harder. There are thousands of mods in the mods listing and even if I tried to read the descriptions, I don't get it. Giving people choices is both a blessing and a curse where it is really hard to decide which one should I put in it. I think I'm giving up on minecraft now because of editions doesn't exists in all of platforms(android and linux pc).Īnyway, I'm still new to minetest and I get that this is just a game engine and not a complete game.
