I've never been much above F元5 in a 300ER. really.) so I don't know if that is trolling or not.) (They do look like hairdryers though) (Then again several of your points echo known a.net flashpoints (hairdryers. The fact that the heavier -300ER on a 14hr flight may stay at FL280-320 for a bit longer than, say, an A380 or 787, has minimal impact on turbulence, the worst weather related of which is well below FL280. The 777 flies in the same flight altitude regime as all other large jet powered passenger airplanes, about FL280 to FL410. I don't mean to come across as anti Boeing, but if you look at all their current products from a 737 to a 748, and as they're normally configured in economy, you'd rather be on an equivalent Airbus. I avoid if I can but it's so ubiquitous you're often stuck with them. While the view is good, if you have a window seat, because it flies so low, you get noticably more turbulance. It's been a few years since I flew on one but subjectively I liked it even more than the A380.Ĭonversly the 777 is an horrible passenger experience. A fabulously quiet and comfortable plane. On the A346 I was waiting for the engines to spool up at takeoff, but we just surged forward with little extra noise. ![]() The A343 is like sitting in a room with a lot of teenage girls drying their hair. In terms of noise the A343 and A346 are completely different aircraft. I am told by far more technical-savvy people that the 777 'noise issue' stems not only from the powerful engines, but more so by a combination of 1) reduced insulation of the sandwich paneling, 2) the aircon units/packs + PSUs, 3) aerodynamic noise. It makes me wary of this impending new 777X, when I am mostly looking for A380-levels of noise (the quietest) on my LH journeys these days I wonder what the end result will sound like!! I wonder what the B777X will be like - Boeing is widening the pax space by 6 inches (from memory) - in other words, the walls and their padding/insulation are being seriously reduced. I have flown in Y quite often in ME3 airlines, and had a few fortunate upgrades to Business (at the front), and there is a bit of a noise difference (helped obviously by the "different" service!) It must be the mighty engines! I try to avoid them as much as possible, but sometimes that is not possible. I totally concur that the 777 is by far the title holder of "noisiest current aircraft today" - and by a long margin. ![]() ![]() Why is the 777 noisier than other aircraft?
